Archos 101 Tablet Price Review Specs, cell phone reviews, The first thing I noticed about the 101 was how light it was. Despite a 10.1in screen, weighs only 480g. That is 200 grams less than an iPad and only 100 grams more than the 7in Samsung Galaxy Tab. And at only 12mm thick, it is no more dignified than the average smartphone. Shedding the weight and weight loss is somewhat compromised the strength of the device – it’s not flex or feel like it will fall apart, but you would not want to risk is not.
The design language of the 101 follows the 43 – and indeed, previous generation Archos media players – with a gun metal gray plastic case, metal table stand and a front that almost all screen and no ring. It’s smart and controlled, rather than inspired and flamboyant, but no worse. The sleek, minimalist look reinforced by all the ports including the 3.5 mm audio jack is placed together on the left edge along with the power and volume buttons, the latter two are the only physical controls on the 101.
Everything else is managed on the screen, meaning that if the 43, all checks are aimed at the same location appear, regardless of which way up or around you hold the device. This is useful if you want your cable connections on the right instead of left, or if you are the thing in portrait to an e-book.
