Feeling excited to know more about Blackberry Torch? I’m back here for the second review on the Operating System 6!
Between check out the review on the Blackberry Torch specification if you haven’t go through it yet.
As I mention in the previous review, Torch is equipped with the latest BlackBerry 6 operating system(OS 6) and there’s lot to be excited to talk about. BlackBerry 6 has something for everyone and personally, highlighting the customize and organizing of the new home screen and menus.
From my personal point of view, it’s pretty handful for the introduced features as we could organize the apps in sequence based on our very different demand. Imagine me as a social networker, BBM, Twitter, Facebook and Foursquare would be my very first row in the favorite list.
Secondly highlight of OS6 was none other than the well known Blackberry Messenger(BBM).We will get to know whether the message was delivered out and read by the recipient through the indication provided
Okay, you can’t pretend that you didn’t receive the message or misread it from now on, pretty bad for you who used to use this as excuse =P
Apart from that, group chat was enable in BBM. What spice it up as compared to other apps was we able to share a same list and calendar among the group mates. Let says that we have an meet-up with the group mates, what we have to do is just one person create a new appointment in the calendar and all of us will be able to access the group calendar and check it out , pretty cool right?
Next to speak about is the introduce of Universal Search!
Now you can search everything on your smartphone at once ¨C and even reach out to the web too within a click.
As you can see above, I type Xiangcool.com in the universal search and instantly a list of related search result prompt out. They provide me with an instant search in Google, in Blackberry Apps, Youtube and so on.
This features do facilitates blur people like me who often misplace the notes, contact names and so on. Don’t tell other’s that I often forgotten other people name and I quickly search with my phone keyword related such as Bloggers, Sunway University College or Taylor’s University.
Coming on is the features in OS 6 that I love the most personally. It’s a list of updates inclusive of facebook, twitter, bbm message called Social Feed.
With the social feed, you can now view all your social and RSS feeds in one place. Type an update once and send it to one, all or select networks. Pretty cool right it provides a platform that connect all of the social network tools that I use!The last but not least, Operating System 6 provide us with a faster and richer web browsing. To be frank I can’t really give you an exact answer since I have not use any Blackberry smart phones before.
I had make a comparison between the speed of launching the same website on iPhone 3GS and Blackberry Torch on the same time, anyhow I will only talk about it in my next review on the comparison of iPhone 3GS with Blackberry Torch.
What’s standout in web browsing in OS 6 was ability to manage multiple open websites with tabbed browsing. Bookmark your favourite sites with branded icons and customisable names, and access them right from the home screen.
From the overview features of Operating System 6, I personally think that only the social feeds and BBM are impressive to me.The rest of the features were pretty normal that existed in other smart phones.
The instant push notification for twitter, facebook and email keep me in touch with the world without launching the apps. Without frequent launching the phone itself I able to save the battery life further more too.
BBM is very stable as compare to whatsapps which is very widely introduce between iPhone, Blackberry and Android phones now. Add on the group chat features and group calendar really enhance the work flow between my course mate.
